Will their ever be an anti-coporate music movemnet again- for example- like grunge?
Ok, the ‘grunge’ scene was within itself full of sh!t and was short lived… But many of the bands gave corp rock the big FU, many refusing to sound, dress and act in a certain way to sell their ablums and/or products. It was the old Syd Barrett view of rock music that many of these bands held- do it for the love not the money. Do it for a voice of rebellion and protest- but do it loud. Now it seems that music is turning to corp rock again, killing the underground… Turning up ‘indie bands’ that have been through a ‘cookie cutter’ effect- that these ‘indie band’ are actually corp rock bands that all dress, sound and say the same things… Like Panic!At the Disco, Fallout Boy, My Chemical Romance- all the same sound, making bucks for corp rock.

Sure, it will happen… it always does. Sometimes things take time and sometimes things seem to explode like Nirvana did. Just think back to a few years ago when the Backstreet Boys and NSYNC ruled the charts and airwaves. Music is slowly returning to rock… Even Rap and Hip Hop is loosing hold in the music scene. Once one band emerges the record labels will always counter with clones but things are already getting better… the bands that you mentioned… Panic!At the Disco, Fallout Boy, My Chemical Romance, they all pretty much have no real talent but at least they are borrowing sounds from bands that we can all respect. I think that the Internet and downloading music like we do now is destroying the big record companies… things are going to revert back to the early days of rock. There are going to be less and less AOR releases and more singles… just like bands used to put out 45′s with a B-track. Artists will put their own sounds out there and market themselves. Somewhere out in the world there is a hotbed of new sounds and we all wait for something fresh. Remember this though, there are not too many of us out there that would say no to a big fat record deal, everyone likes a roof that doesn’t leak.
